Dr. Jake Bostrom volunteering in China

Dr. Jake Brostom, Southern Eye’s newest ophthalmologist, has packed his bags and is traveling to China for a volunteer and educational trip with the Dean McGee Eye Institute. During this trip, Dr. Bostrom will not only perform numerous cataract surgeries but also train Chinese ophthalmologists in performing these vision saving procedures. This program is made possible with the help of Heart to Heart International with a goal is to educate the Chinese ophthalmologists. The Sichuan Health Bureau welcomes this help from Dean McGee to increase the number of trained cataract surgeons at the Chinese Provincial Hospital. With additional surgeons, the 500,000 blind residents with treatable cataracts can be cured.
